Canon ES7000V Hi8 Camcorder

Canon's ES7000V camcorder ($999) is the top model in Canon's current Hi8 line of products, and has a 16X optical range lens with digital image stabilizer that works well. Digital playback effects include sepia, letterbox, and art. The fader system includes several special effects, but lacks a simple fade-to-black feature. There are no manual override functions available for white balance, shutter speed, and exposure. Highlights of the camcorder include PAL60 playback, which allows the user to view tapes on European TVs, and a 3 1/2-inch view screen.

Sony DCR-TRV900

Article Abstract:

The $2,699 Sony DCR-TRV900 is a small digital video camera is a step towards bringing professional quality video gear into the range of the home enthusiast. The TRV900 has three image sensors, a color-bar generator, and manual overrides. The camera records material onto MiniDV cassettes and is capable of transferring material to a properly equipped PC. Excellent editing features and still photo capability make the camera highly recommended.

JVC Mini DV Camcorder

An evaluation of the JVC Mini DV camcorder priced at $2,300 is presented. Some features of this product include progressive-scan image sensor for digital photos, extensive special effects and a viewscreen with color viewfinder. The results from a test conducted using this product are given.
