Home-entertainment companies have learned to cut their losses by selling off inferior product lines in certain naive countries. China, for example, has become the biggest dumping ground for this type of practice. Previously unsold and obsolete products from the US can regularly be found in China.

The British Labor government, by banning recommended retail prices, is indirectly threatening the viability of independent, high-end audio retailers. The ban targets US-style warehouse stores suspected of price-fixing, but the peripheral effects could eliminate smaller players.
