What to do when you get a claim
Article Abstract:
Architects with profesional indemnity insurance must follow strict procedures if they receive a claim against them. They must inform their insurer immediately and it is wise to inform the insurer of any circumstances that may lead to a claim. However, it is not prudent to let other parties know insurance is held. Professional indemnity insurance is on a claims made basis so any claims made during the current policy must be covered irrespective of when the work was done. Insurance must, therefore, be continued after retirement. The insurers need full information about a claim and will control the case.
