THE MAGIC OF FILM SOUND
Article Abstract:
Most sound in movies is not produced during the actual filming, but is rather added in post-production. Even a few actors engaged in dialogue most be radically altered in post-production in order to achieve good sound. The technique of sound production in movies is described. The equipment used in post-production is detailed.

Binaural sound hits the big screen

Sony is improving 3-D experience at its IMAX theaters with binaural audio technology from Sonics Associates. Two channels from a 10-channel, 18,000-watt system feed binaural signals to headsets worn by moviegoers. The signals are synchronized via computer with projectors.
