Videotron board formally rejects Quebecor bid

Groupe Videotron Ltee has rejected a $5.9 billion takeover bid from Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec and Quebecor Inc. Videotron, which is Quebec's largest cable television company, also received an acquisition bid from Rogers Communications Inc.

Toronto, Ont.-based Rogers Communications Inc. is trying to acquire Quebecor, Que.-based Groupe Videotron Ltee. for $5.6 billion. But Montreal, Que.-based Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec has won a temporary court order blocking the merger.
