A case for protection

The freedom and availability of information is the Internet's most attractive aspect, but many computer users are concerned about issues of privacy. The US has implemented a system of self-regulation of computer and Internet companies. Europe has recommended stricter laws ensuring manufacturers provide consumers with tools to control their personal information. Australia is aiming for a compromise between the 2 extremes.
