A city reborn . . . or neighborhood destroyed?
Article Abstract:
The New London Development Corp. (NLDC) was given power to acquire property from any home or business owner under eminent domain, to bring about modernization of the Fort Trumbull neighborhood, New London. However, a poll of residents of New London revealed that 53 percent people were opposed to the use of eminent domain for the Fort Trumbull redevelopment compared to 39 percent in favor, because the home and working class families would be forced to leave their homes in the name of redevelopment.
