Soliciter General Herb Gray and Justice Minister Allan Rock hope to introduce a bill that would fund a national forensic DNA data bank that can be used by law enforcement agencies to identify offenders. DNA evidence can also be used to exonerate those who have been falsely accused or convicted.

Cooperation, not competition, was the prevailing spirit of the 6th Special Olympic World Winter Games held in Toronto and Collingwood, Ontario, from Feb 1-8, 1997. There were 1,557 disabled athletes from 72 countries participating in five official sports and two demonstration sports.
