Queen Elizabeth II will allow public tours of Buckingham Palace for eight weeks starting Aug 7, 1993. She instituted this change to help raise funds to pay for the restoration of Windsor Castle, which was damaged by fire in Nov 1992. Other changes among British royalty are described.
