There are three different plans for building pipelines to transport natural gas from near Sable Island. The central concern is whether a pipeline will go through Quebec, which will create jobs but touch off national unity issues. Subsidies and a proposed route through the US are also concerns.

A comprehensive survey of religious beliefs in Canada found that 80% of Canadians believe in God, but less that 25% attend church weekly. Survey results concerning beliefs, disagreements with mainstream teachings and fundamentalism are discussed.

African relief: Canadians join a global rescue operation

About 850 Canadian soldiers joined the United Nations sponsored, US-led relief effort in Somalia in Jan 1993. The first task for the Canadians will be to secure a 20,000-square-mile area near the Ethiopian border.
