The royal House of Saud announced on Jan 1, 1996, that the ailing King Fahd was transferring power to his half-brother Crown Prince Abdullah. The US and other countries are monitoring the situation closely and are fearful that Abdullah will take a more Arab nationalistic stance than his predecessor.
