MDSI stock soars 27% on move by U.S. brokerage

MDSI Mobile Data Solutions Inc (MDSI) of Richmond, British Columbia, is a provider of wireless workforce management systems, which are used by mobile field workers and sales people who need to access company data bases and systems from remote locations. The company is expected to benefit from the expanding market for such applications, currently valued at $260 million with an anauk growth rate of 40%. MDSI is projected to post earnings per share of $75 cents to $1 for 1999, and $1.05 in 2001.

Call centre operator picks up rival
Article Abstract:
Minacs Group Inc, the biggest privately owned call center operation in Canada, is set to become a public company with its takeover of rival Phonettix Intelecom Ltd. The C$28.5-million deal calls for Phonettix to issue 100 million shares in exchange for all outstanding shares of Minacs. After the transaction is closed, Minacs will own 80% of the combined company, which will have over 2,000 staff based throughout North America.
