Advances in cancer research
Article Abstract:
America has spent over $25 billion researching cancer since the National Cancer Act was passed in 1971, but there is debate over the progress made. The National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health are receiving less financing and are in need of restructuring after years of waste. Some say that scientific advances have been made that could lead to a cure, bus those that measure success in saving lives point out that the incidences of cancer and related deaths have been increasing.
