After Mandela
Article Abstract:
Nelson Mandela will end his term as president of South Africa on Jun 16, 1999, to be replaced by Thabo Mbeki, his chosen successor. Mandela came to office in 1995 on a platform of reconciliation, but many white South Africans are concerned Mbeki will want to replace them with Africans. Other analysts feel Mbeki will address the injustices of apartheid more effectively than Mandela.
