Collenette seeks MP's airline opinion
Article Abstract:
Canada's Transport Minister David Collenette has announced that he wants to hear parliamentary debate before making a decision on whether to lift ownership restrictions in Air Canada. The Air Canada Participation Act forbids any individual to own more than 10% of the carrier's voting shares. The proposal of Onex Corp tp acquire and merge Canadian Airlines International Ltd and Air Canada is structure to avoid the ownership limitation but would be more attractive if the restriction is lifted.

Air Canada reaches tentative deal with its largest union
Article Abstract:
Air Canada Inc and its biggest union, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, have reached a tentative deal that includes wage gains of 5%, 4% and 3% for each year of the three-year contract. If the union votes to approve the deal, the airline will have negotiated agreements with its four key unions. Analysts said that the tentative agreement will help alleviate the worry of air travellers about grounded flights due to labor disagreements.
