Article Abstract:

A majority of respondents to a 1995 Maclean's/Medical Post/Angus Reid survey feel that Canada should allow physician-assisted suicide. Despite this, activists who favor legalizing the practice have made little headway. Mary Jane Fogarty was convicted of assisting her friend's May 1994 suicide.

Tobacco's top guns

Article Abstract:

The tobacco lobby is fighting hard to block Health Minister David Dingwall's regulations that would ban all tobacco advertising. Many arts and sports groups would like the regulations blocked as well because they stand to lose millions if the ban is implemented.

Article Abstract:

The idea that every Canadian should have access to colleges and universities in the 1960s helped create programs that meet the needs of various groups of people. Several programs from different universities are evaluated.
