'Hey Prez!': computers offer new line to Clinton
Article Abstract:
Computer users and subscribers to major on-line services such as Compuserve, America Online, Internet, MCI Mail and Prodigy, now have access to the White House and President Clinton. Compuserve users can type in the command 'GO WHITEHOUSE' and be able to retrieve speeches of the President, the Vice President or the First Lady. Clinton's electronic mail identification is Clinton Pz. Despite his preference for using notepads, the President has a staff of computer wizards who are constantly searching for ways to make him more accessible to the public. Schools nationwide can already access daily White House briefings, schedules and speeches via computers. Clinton's technology staff is experimenting with various technologies, such as digital photography, and is working on the possibility of setting up the President's own cable television network.
