President Clinton gave a speech to his top generals and admirals in the National Defense University warning that attacking Iraq could cost American lives. He warned that the air war may last much longer than it did in the Persian Gulf War. The American and British attackers will have to bomb Saddam Hussein's Republican Guard, command-and-control networks and facilities, and other sites where he may be developing weapons of mass destruction.
