Axcan clinches Scandiphram after sweetening offer
Article Abstract:
Axcan Pharma Inc, based in Montreal, has acquired 51% of Scandipharm Inc after it raised its offer to $8.88 per share, prompting rival Trilobite Lakes Inc to end its interest in purchasing Scandipharm. Axcan currently controls over 90% of Scandipharm of Birmingham, AL, and is expected to gain total control of the company by Aug 13, 1999. The deal would increase Axcan's workforce to 193 from 95 people and would have resulted in 1998 revenue of C$78 million.
