Post-Cold War problems
Article Abstract:
The end of the Cold War witnessed the decline of US and Soviet military power in Asia. The US recently failed to secure an agreement with the Philippines to maintain two strategically located US bases. The size of the naval forces of the USSR has also been depleted with some of the ships believed to be up for commercial use. With the decrease of military influence from the two superpowers, there is a steady increase with the arms race among Asian countries. The arms race had been the result of Asian policies employed by the US, the USSR and China during the Cold War.
