Trading against the e-tide
Article Abstract:
AG Edwards Inc and Edwards Jones, two stock brokerages based in St Louis, MO, are resisting the trend of operating online, stressing that discount online trading is not investing at all. The strategy is seen by some as risky, considering that several brokers in New York are already offering online services. With their opposition to online trading, AG Edwards and Edwards Jones could be exercising patience, but a false execution could lead to a decline in the business.

Internet IPOs: what follows the ballyhoo?
Article Abstract:
Investors should be warned that many of the high-priced IPOs which were considered very promising when first offered have turned out to be financial disappointments. A good example is Planet Hollywood, which closed at $26 7/8 at its first trading day in 1996 and is now currently worth 88 cents. Investors lose out in IPO investments because few are able to buy at the offering price and eager investors often buy high and sell low.
