Investors in 1999 face similar circumstances they faced in 1998. Australian investors will either back the growth that Wall Street has generated, or they will back away fearing a major correction period. Many contend that the strength of the US economy may mean that the fall will be particularly severe. Despite the strength of the Australian market, a downfall in the US market could generate a worldwide collapse.
