Black ban
Article Abstract:
The curators of Australia's National Museum have bought a painting by the internationally acclaimed Kimberley Aboriginal artist, Queenie McKenzie, for $30,000, titled as 'Mistake Creek Massacre', which depicts the slaughter of eight Aborigines at Mistake Creek in the East Kimberley around 1930. The members of the museum's governing council's collection committee appointed by the Howard government decided that the painting should not be included in the museum's National Historical Collections.
