Busch heir taps ambition: Beer scion follows dad's lead
Article Abstract:
Anheuser-Busch is considering vice president for US marketing August Busch IV as the future replacement of his father and the company's current chairman August Busch III. The brewer's board of directors will soon have to decide whether Busch IV has what it takes to take over in four years. Busch IV enjoys venturing into retail stores where he is not known as an Anheuser-Busch executive to determine how the company's products are faring. The company is presently one of the most well-known family-run firms in the US. It is also the biggest brewer in the country.

Busch IV likely to pop to top
Article Abstract:
Anheuser-Busch is expected to appoint August Busch IV as CEO when his father August Busch III steps down despite the minimal 3.4-million stock share held by the company's leader. Busch III already stated that he wants to retire at age 65 though he can opt to remain for an additional four years or more should Busch IV need more guidance. Busch III is known to have had his own father removed from the company after Busch III was appointed president of Anheuser-Busch. Busch IV is not expected to do this to his father who supports his career.

Tequiza beer takes on Corona
Article Abstract:
Anheuser-Busch has launched Tequiza, an upstart flavored beer, to compete against Corona in the Mexican beer market, which fueled an increase of 15.5% in beer import sales in 1998. The brewing giant expects Tequiza to receive a couple of percentage points of market share in 1999, mainly due to its powerful distributor network. The company is limiting advertising support to print, outdoor and radio outlets to avoid critics who might not like tequila-flavored beer, even if Tequiza does not actually have any tequila in it.
