Businesses to get tax break: Budget to shorten capital cost allowance times to help productivity, sources say

The federal government is planning to ease Corporate Canada's tax burden to stimulate productivity with provisions in the upcoming budget for 2004 that would allow businesses to write off computers, heavy machinery and other capital investments more aggressively. Introduction of changes in the tax treatment of depreciation is an effective and relatively affordable way to corporate taxes and improve productivity.
