CHINA: COPYRIGHT LAW FOR CYBERSPACE
Article Abstract:
Copyright provision for Web arena has been included in revised Copyright Law of China. The law is pending to be passed in March 2001 by National People's Congress. As ruled by the new provision, intruders who made unauthorised accessions into online works and computer systems that are being protected will be penalised. Meanwhile, unauthorised alteration and elimination of system access restrictions are considered as part of hacking activities, which will render the hackers liable. According to National Copyrights Administration of China's director, Wang Huapeng, the revised law is being formulated at present.

CHINA: STRICTER CONTROL ON FARMLAND USE
Article Abstract:
In a bid to prevent wastage, the Land and Natural Resources Ministry in China will be imposing stricter control on land resources. To ensure balance development, the Chinese government will improve land management, citing the need for preservation of arable land. In view of the ballooning population, the Chinese government will also limit the volume of arable land to be allowed for non-agricultural use.
