Call centres evolve with the Internet
Article Abstract:
Firms are increasingly using the Web to strengthen ties with their customers and to increase online sales. Sears Canada Inc. is closing its catalogue shopping center in Halifax to move towards online sales. Scott Marshall, vice-president, Sears Canada Inc., expects its online sales to grow to 30% of catalogue sales in the next three years. Sears is also revamping their other centers to be more Web-based. It is also expanding its traditional telephone call center in Belleville, Ont., creating 350 jobs.
