Because Australians are choosing to move to the inner-city suburbs of cities such as Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne, property prices in these areas are rising accordingly. Although there has been an economic downturn in Australia, house and apartment prices in inner-urban areas have increased by by 20% or more since 1999.
