SEC completes review of IBP

IBP, a South Dakota-based meatpacking company, has revealed that the US Securities and Exchange Commission has completed the review of its financial records. The completion of the review is expected to pave the way for Tyson Foods Inc to complete its $3.2 billion acquisition of the company. The acquisition, which was announced on January 1, 2001, will make Tyson Foods the leading beef and pork producer in the country.

Russian prosecutor, IMF join mob probe

The Bank of New York announced it is cooperating with the FBI and Russia's top prosecutor in their probe into allegations that Russian organized crime laundered billions of dollars via the bank. Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund is also conducting an investigation to find whether the money loaned to Russia was unlawfully diverted into the Russian organized crime's money-laundering operation.
