Article Abstract:

China called the combined bluff of the US government and Congress through its announcement of a 2.1% appreciation of the renminbi against the US dollar. The revaluation actually overstates China's concession to US demands as most of that country's exports to US have a sizeable dollar-priced import content and the actual appreciation is probably about 1%.
