The opera 'Norma' composed by Vincenzo Bellini in 1830-31is discussed where much of Italy was under foreign occupation, paralleling the opera's plot in which the Roman's dominate Gaul at about the time of Julius Caesar. The Attorney-General Philip Ruddock has declared the opera as an incitement to terrorism.
