Consumers Give Signs of a Free-Spending Holiday Season

Respondents to a survey from the Consumer Federation of America and the Credit Union National Association are less concerned about their debt load, with 17 percent planning to spend more on the holidays than last year. Retailers have hired 337,000 new employees in anticipation of increased Christmas business.
