The Australian sharemarket does not accurately reflect the whole economy. It is an incomplete, distorted image that tells analysts little about the strength of Australian corporations. The US sharemarket has had an affect on the rise of the Australian sharemarket, and if Wall Street suffers a significant correction of its record high level, the Australian market could not avoid a corresponding correction.

Live fast, crash early

Article Abstract:

The slowdown experienced by the United States economy during 2000 is an unknown quantity. Some analysts believe if it is slowing quickly then a crash would be a good thing rather than continuing with such a poor market which is affecting the rest of the world.
