Doctors-in-training can form unions
Article Abstract:
The National Labor Relations Board has ruled that medical students who are completing their training in private hospitals as residents, interns and fellows can form unions to negotiate wages and work hours. The ruling reversed a precedent that considered doctors-in-training as students who could not negotiate for collective bargaining rights. Interns and residents working in public hospitals have already been granted the right to form unions in some states.

Will private sector unions begin to grow again?
Article Abstract:
Private sector unions will begin to grow again because of rising discontent among workers. New campaigns directed to reach these workers are designed to attract women, minorities, and those reluctant to organize. Competition and economic change has greatly reduced the overall power of unions, although they will retain political power in the foreseeable future.
