It has grown from a staff of 15 in 1983 to more than 50 staff worldwide in 1998. International sales account for 70% of its revenues. It had 70 customers in 1983 and in 1998 licensed its software to 295 customers in 20 countries.

West Australian boat builder Austal will benefit from the collapse of rival Oceanfast, which is up for sale. Austal is the only likely buyer of Oceanfast. Austal specializes in large aluminium-hulled passenger/vehicle ferries. Austal released its prospectus in Dec 1998 and its shares commended a premium of 30 cents to 40 cents on listing.
