Dow's worst week since '33

This was the worst week for the Dow Jones Industrial Average since the Great Depression. The Dow lost 14.3 percent by week's end and approximately $1.4 trillion (U.S.) disappeared from U.S. market capitalization since the September 11th terrorist attacks.

The 30-stock Dow Jones Industrial Average showed a 15.8 percent decline in the 3rd quarter, the sharpest quarterly loss since the.25.3 percent drop in the 4th quarter of 1987.
