WMC, the Australian mining company, is open to takeover bids in the ever-consolidating global mining industry. A potential takeover bid from Anglo American has prompted WMC's business partner Alcoa to consider a takeover bid to protect its interest in Alcoa Worldwide Alumina and Chemicals. BHP Billiton may also submit a bid for WMC.
