Net start-ups pull out of the garage

Article Abstract:

Internet start-up companies will find it difficult to duplicate the success achieved by the pioneers in electronic commerce such as eBay and Amazon.com. Industry analysts believe that growth for e-commerce sites on retail or services for consumers is limited because the market has already matured. The trend is gearing towards business-to-business commerce and Internet infrastructure companies which offer growth potential because of vastly untapped opportunities.

Dell to dive into consumer electronics market: Move likely to shake, rattle and roll industry

Article Abstract:

Dell is unveiling plans to make a major push into consumer electronics, selling flat-panel TVs and MP3 players on its popular Web site and opening an online music-downloading store in the United States in 2003. The companies are moving into consumer electronics, in part because the PC business is not growing much, and also because entertainment is increasingly digital and music, movies and photos are becoming an extension of the PC.
