Federal ban on water exports delayed as firms get closer to bulk sales deals
Article Abstract:
The Canadian government's proposal to ban water exports from bodies of water on the border with the US will be delayed until at least the fall of 1999. The government announced in Feb 1999 that it will introduce legislation regarding the ban and asked all the provinces to respect a voluntary moratorium on all water exports. The government also proposed to forge a federal-provincial agreement on the permanent ban on water exports.
