Florida lightens load on heirs

Article Abstract:

A highly competent and motivated team of tax law administrators at the Florida Revenue Dept has made it considerably easier for the heirs of Florida residents' estates to untangle the financial details involved in estate taxes. These Revenue Dept employees drafted laws so that estates with less than $675,000 in assets no longer have to file estate taxes, while the heirs of estates with more than $675,000 in assets need to wait only an average of 15 days instead of six months after filing taxes to get the certificates they require to divide or sell property.

New York city tabs duke it out

Article Abstract:

Competition between the 'Daily News' and the 'New York Post' has intensified with the launching of separate marketing initiatives that they hope will boost tabloid circulation in New York. The 'Daily News' launched a free afternoon paper, called 'Daily News Express,' on Sep 12, 2000. Daily copies of the tabloid has already been increased from the initial 75,000 to 90,000 to meet the demand. A week earlier, the 'New York Post' reduced its price by 50%. The discount is expected to last at least a year.

When things go wrong, best firms recover quickly

Article Abstract:

Things can go wrong and customers are demanding are two essential truths about the so-called 'New Economy.' The third essential truth about the New Economy is that service recovery has become even more critical than ever. Service recovery calls for companies to adopt the kind of policies that empower their employees to do the right thing, without question, in solving problems, fixing mistakes and responding to crises immediately, instinctively and in real time.
