Food news blues
Article Abstract:
The result of a massive, federally funded study on 'Fat' is released and the media trumpeted about it, which confounded conventional wisdom and standard medical advice. The Women's Health Initiative (WHI) study is a series of dietary flip-flops, the media explosion has transformed the intimate relationship between the patient and their doctors, the scientist themselves have become a part of the media machine and the media reports all studies with same degree of certainty without any real label of quality.

Hormones and the mind
Article Abstract:
Scientists are studying the effects of estrogen therapy on women in their late forties and early fifties. Magnetic resonance imaging showed more activity in women's brains after taking a dose of estrogen. Scientists are not certain if estrogen is responsible for improved memory function, since participants did not perform better on memory tests despite the observed increase in brain activity.
