Funerals are fast becoming a rapidly growing area of the Australian pet industry as people increasingly opt for expensive cremations and burials rather than see family pets consigned to the rubbish tip by the local veterinarian. The Aus$3.3 billion sector accounts for 37,000 jobs and offers a range of products and services for pet funerals, from hearses and hand-crafted caskets to a chapel service presided over by a minister.

One of Kerry Packer's best mates, and manager of his vast pastoral interests, believes that loyalty is the key to success. He states that Kerry was genuinely interested in reviving the cattle industry which was in dire straits to survive and prosper where his company Teys Bros became the largest meet processor in Australia and the largest Australian-owned beef company.
