Kosich was appointed president and CEO of the T. Eaton Company Ltd to provide the troubled department store chain 'a sense of urgency.' Kosich will devise a restructuring plan by Sep 15, 1997. He predicts that 50 stores of the original 85 will remain open.

The demand for minivans, pickup trucks and sport-utility vehicles is growing in Canada and is expected to intensify further in 1997. Demand is so high that manufacturers make a profit on each vehicle that ranges from $2,000 to $6,000.
