Delphi goes on its own

Article Abstract:

General Motor's spin-off of Delphi Automotive Systems was finalized on May 28, 1999. The spin-off presents advantages and disadvantages to both firms. GM will lose $5 billion in revenues but will be able to focus on its core businesses. Delphi is still assured of $20 billion a year in GM contracts but GM will now be accessible to Delphi competitors. Delphi has an annual income of $28.5 billion and is ranked the US's 36th largest company.

Practically alone at the top

Article Abstract:

The US auto industry's Big Three are found to have only 14 women executives, compared with 186 male corporate officers. This number is said to be an improvement from the 1990s, but the three automakers are still working to employ more qualified women in the industry. There are 8% female executives in the car industry and none has taken a position higher than a senior vice president.
