To prevent rapid, wilting, spoiling, rot and mold of fruits and vegetables, purchasing the freshest produce without blemishes and not being too ripe is recommended. Other recommendations include not washing produce before storing it , handle as few times as possible before consumption, wash produce just before eating it, and if in doubt, throw it out.
