Article Abstract:
Computer users are plagued by chain letters that travel through cyberspace, warning of dangerous computer viruses or promising prizes that do not exist. Industry analysts are surprised that electronic mail users, who are usually technologically savvy, would be victimized by such hoaxes. Some suggest the natural impulse to connect to others as well as the charitable impulse to protect or help others may be responsible for the habit of forwarding chain letters through cyberspace.
