Australians wondered if Pat Rafter, winner of the 1997 US Open, could join other tennis champions during the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament in July 1998. Pete Sampras has been called the player of the decade, winning the title from 1993 to 1995 and 1997. Critics question if Sampras will be able to maintain confidence in the event if he loses.
