Article Abstract:

The roaring success of posthumous releases of dead rock stars have initiated record companies into gearing up for a grave-robbing bonanza exploiting the stillborn legacies and back catalogues of a whole ream of ghosts of Christmas past. Elliott Smith, the ex-Best Song Oscar nominee, is the latest to join the posthumous pantheon when his latest album entered the world in late October 2004, a full year after he exited it.

Article Abstract:

Combination of exhibit A, B and C gives the latest in Ernst & Young's Pop's in the Park series, outdoor concert events where songs of contemporary artists are fused with classical orchestrations. Tim Rogers and Tex Perkins are brilliant composers with two decades in business and dozen ARIA awards between them, but pairing them with a symphony seems as safe as mixing nitro with glycerine and leaning in for a closer look.

Kubrick's cube

Article Abstract:

'Stanley Kubrick: Inside the Mind of a Visionary Filmmaker' is an exhibition of more than 1000 rare and unseen artifacts, props, models, costumes, cameras, photos, scripts, letters and other oddities that are displayed via a series of spookily Kubrickian installations. It is held at the ACMI Screen Gallery, in Melbourne, from November 25 to January 29, 2006.
