More than one million Canadian children called the Kid's Help Phone in 1995. The hotline guides children through stressful situations when their parents are unavailable. Children in 1995 experienced more stress due to increased awareness of violence, diseases, and a deteriorating environment.

The edge of tolerance: Canadians balk at gay couples adopting children

Article Abstract:

The 13th annual Maclean's poll found that people from Quebec and Vancouver are more tolerant of gays than those living in the prairie provinces. Although support for gay rights has increased, 65% are still opposed to allowing gays to adopt. Other sexual issues are also discussed.
