Has the Clinton administration done a good job of promoting democracy in Asia?

While the Clinton administration is criticized for placing priorities on economic and security interest and not doing enough to promote human rights and democratization, the power of democratic status is difficult to obtain and its effects may be exaggerated. The success of the Clinton administration may take years to measure, the administration should discuss effective bilateral and multilateral policies to help Asia make the transition.
